| | Medical technology...
Saves and enhances millions of lives throughout the world every day
Is fundamental to patient choice and quality of life
Helps the NHS work more efficiently, by reducing time spent in hospital and getting people back to normal life faster
Yet...
Only 4.5% of the NHS budget is spent on medical technology compared to the European average of 6.3%
The Medical Technology Group (MTG) is an active coalition of patients, members of the medical profession, patient groups and medical device innovators. Now in our seventh year, we are making a big difference in widening patient access to medical innovations, including the latest treatments for heart conditions, diabetes, stroke prevention and continence. We want to see a modern and effective NHS that responds to the needs of the patient.
- Advance reforms that will ensure patient access to innovative medical technologies
- Recognise the work and contributions of leading medical professionals and institutions using technology to improve health care outcomes for patients
- Provide patients with accurate information about the latest available medical technologies
- The Group’s chief aim is to bring the UK level of patient access to medical technology into line with that of mainland Europe, by showing the health benefits and cost savings such technology can bring
